Have you ideas about purchasing the perfect IRC racer with occasional day cruising possibilities? Are you looking at a yacht with an overall length of 25 ft to suit a crew of four or five? Are you working off a budget of somewhere around €30000? A focus point for your consideration then has to be the Corby 25 which offers so much more potential than a sports boat. We have a highly successful IRC racing yacht for sale.
The Corby 25 is a fast sailing racing boat built and designed to sail with great upwind and downwind performance. This Corby 25 has a fin keel, bulb, and spade rudder. Due to her relative high weight (2 tone) 50 % in the keel, the Corby 25 is very stiff, holding all sails up to 20–knots true wind, she can achieve an apparent upwind angle of about 17 degrees and therefore has the ability to sail higher than most of her competitors. This fractional sloop is also fitted with small saildrive inboard diesel engines.
The Corby 25 is of particular interest to time-starved owners, as she’s easy to lift out with a single lifting point, conveniently trailerable, and once you’ve previously had the rig set up in optimum tune, it takes only a couple of hours to rig and tune her again when you have taken her by road to some new regatta anywhere in the country or abroad. Yet she is also IRC offshore compliant.
However, this particular Corby 25 called "Eclipse" (formally "Tribal") is not your standard GRP production boat. It was custom-built by John Corby himself in the UK in 2000 from cedar strip and epoxy making her lighter and stiffer than the subsequent production models. This 2000-built boat had a new inboard Yanmar 1GM10C (2020) engine with a two-blade folding prop and the hull and topside were taken back to gel coat and wood and professionally spray primed and hard racing antifouled in June 2020 at the cost of €13000. She comes with a brand new (never used) UK Sailmakers main sail (2023), 2 new (never used) UK Sailmakers (2023) spinnakers (light and medium), and a new two-grooved Tuff-luff forestay. She has new standing and running rigging fitted in 2021 and comes with a twin axle RM galvanized road towing trailer with a new hitch and brakes fitted in 2022. She has a 2022 IRC-endorsed certificate of 0.930 and is ready for a new owner to win some races. This Corby 25 is in excellent condition, the owner has owned her for the past three seasons and is now looking for a larger yacht.
